finally, pictures

well, i received my female in last Tuesday  she was a little concerning. noumerious bumps over her body, dark coloration down her spine, but other than her lack of lushes green and the bumps she is well. my male Aru

had a vet appointment yesterday. it was the fallow up appointment to receive more medicine for his internal parasites  i also took Luna, my female, to have her checked out also. she had the same internal parasites as my male, and the same treatment was administered. my vet, Dr. Shannon McGee said she was a little on the thin side, and the bumps, we are pretty sure they are some sort of paradisaical worm. im not sure what i am going to do about them yet, but the vet doesn't seem worried about it. its bothering me however and i need to do something. there is a fallow up appointment in 2 weeks for more medicine for Luna, and also to check my male's fecal to make sure he is parasite free. which he should be at that time. here are a few pictures of

Luna

on the prowl!

just for giggles, here is 2 shots of my man Gorgeous George on the hunt for dinner!

until next time..

nothing new

nothing new going on. just felt like posting something. i have a beautiful Aru type female coming in this upcoming Tuesday. she is a high white/ high blue. truly a beautiful animal im pretty excited about her arrival. she is going to be such a nice addition to my meager collection. i have 6 animals now. ha ha last year about this time i was at Repticon Memphis and didn't have a single animal.. that's where it all started. i saw a vendor with 3 bright yellow neonates in a ExoTerra display and i had to have one. but i didn't purchase one of them.. i did my home work, lots of home work before getting my 1st one. doing your home work is extreamly important before bringing home any animal. too often people impulse buy with out knowledge of  proper care or housing. boo..

anyway, now almost a year later i have 6 animals! ha ha ha i have 3 in my care currently, 1 on breeding loan, i should receive him soon actually. 1 in Florida with those cages i will eventually go get. and the Aru type female that i will get on Tuesday. i will post pictures of the new arrival at that time. i look forward to breeding them at the appropriate time. breeding these animals is a long term goal of mine. hopefully i will get there one day :)

until Tuesday..

been a minute

well its been a minute or two things have been a little busy so i thought i would take a minute and update all my loverly fans on whats going on..

above is the Aru type male i purchased. he has been healthy and great for me. i took him to the vet to be probed and tested for internal parasites. he showed sign of good health. no external parasites to speak of but a few internal ones. i expected him to have a few. the doc gave him some medicine and he has a follow up appointment on the 26th.  it was a good visit. i am expecting another Aru type female from the same gentleman i got this male from. i should be looking forward to her arrival next Tuesday  :) she should be an amazing animal. I CANT WAIT!!

as always the shy but most beautiful Gorgeous George.

so this was the Aru type male's tub. the dome light over screen mesh didn't help mush with humidity but it did help with the ventilation issue. infact it was the ventilation issue!  i had to come up with another plan, but i couldnt afford cages and the like.. so i bought these..

these are 2 radiant heat panels, kinda like whats in Gorgeous George's cage, but cheaper. i spent 100 bucks for 2 instead of the 109 i spent for Gorgeous George's heat panel. i figured they would be perfect to attatch to the inside of the tub lid. and i was correct! muha ha ha..
 alwayse read the directions.
 panel attached.. :)
see the differance? hells yeah, that should help with the ventilation issue. :) help regulate the heat better also.

this is the female's tub, Aru type that i should be receiving next week.. i still have to go get those cages in Florida and among many other things that are on my to do list.. stay tuned.

good morning all.

its Thursday morning, April 4th. i have a tattoo appointment tonight and I'm super stoked about it! anyway my Aru type male is settled in i suppose. when i put him in the tub he crawled right up to the perch seen in the previous pictures and hasn't moved. i have attempted to feed him twice and he hasn't been interested but thats not really a surprise. he was eating live mice, and I'm offering F/T wet rat pups. I'm going to try with a live mouse this weekend and see what happens. his tub isn't very good. i like my set up but the bulb is too small and the screened port by which the heat passes through is too large and thus, creates too much ventilation. I'm having trouble with maintaining any humidity and its deff too cold. a solution would be get a bigger bulb to pump more heat but i would still have the ventilation issue. so instead i found a new radiant heat panel from R.B.I. (Reptile Basics Inc.) these heat panels are 40 watt and 12" x 12" square and 2" thick. they are relatively cheap and lots of people are using them in their chondro cages so i figured they would be great for my quarantine tubs. i have bought 2 and when they arrive i will fasten them to the underside of uncut lids. this should maintain much greater heat and in turn will help with the lack of ventilation. plus more heat means more water vapor in the air. i look forward to the solution for sure. i also scheduled an appointment with Dr. Shannon B. McGee to look over my newly acquired male. Dr. McGee is the top reptile vet in the mid south. Memphis is very fortunate to have him so close. i take my male, whom i still haven't named, to his appointment on Friday 12th., next Friday.. a general checkup and check for external parasites, as well as a fecal exam to look for internal parasites, and a sex prob to insure that he is indeed a male. i also look forward to this.

in another note. Jim with Tracy Reptile co., the same gentleman from whom i just purchased my male, informed me he had some nice looking females in stock. both high white, and one of them was a high white/ high blue. he gave me first dibs on one, or both. so naturally i jumped on the high white/blue animal. she is beautiful from her pictures and will no doubt be even more so in person. i am suppose to pay for her on Friday the 12th also. i look forward to her arrival as well! :) i will go through the same routine vett visit with her and then i should have a nice pair of Aru Type animals!! i cant wait. next season maybe i could start my own breeding project? this upcoming season is too early, also i doubt my female will be mature enough. :( but still, I'm very excited about having a pair. this female will make 6 animals! muha ha ha ha, and  my collection is ever growing!

anyway later,
Brandon
