new arrival!!

well good morning all.. i am still waiting for my damn income tax return to come in so i can go get those cages, but in the mean time i was paying on this little guy. he is an ary type animal, high white flowers, and i think he looks stunning.

this is a make shift tub i threw together real quick to house him in. its working out pretty well, but i think the bulb is too low wattage, and the ventilation is too much. im sure with  a little tweaking i will figure it out. im going to get another bulb later on in the week. i purchased him from Tracy Reptile Co. they Jim claims to have been in business for 45 years. and that may be the case, but im not impressed. however the animal was beautiful, im sure its imported. claims of "farm bred" have been thrown about but i find them un documented and thus not true in my opinion. its my 1st buy off of an Internet classified add. im happy with my purchase, and i love the new addition, but i was concerned about his health. upon arrival i inspected him and noticed struck shed around his eye, and raised scales through out his body. i don't have any experience with snake mites but that's what it looked like to me..

i am going to have him checked out by the local reptile vet which is the best in the south.. Jim also claimed he was probed as a male, but im going to have the animal re probed just to make sure. im sure he is fine, but a fecal exam and over all check up is going to go a long way. with any luck he wont have too many parasites. here are a few pictures of my new animal.

as you can see from the above pictures, the packaging job was well done. it was below 40* that night the animal was in transit, and it arrived very warm, the snake was very active and alert. :)
 classic blue Aru head, STUNNING!
and lastly here is a poor picture of the animal perched. im going to let him get acclimated a while before trying to do a photo shoot or trying to feed him.

all in all, i plan on buying more high whites from Tracy Reptile Co. i have told them i am looking for females, so hopefully they will come up with a few stunners for me.

more updates and things coming soon!!

another road trip!? Hells yeah!

whats up everybody!? in the above pictures you will notice 4 very nice Greg Maxwell designed cages. these cages are what i was trying to attempt to build with my 1st cage, only these were built by a professional and not some jack ass like me. as you can see one cage comes with a nest box, and the other three (may or may not see) come with Pro-Products radiant heat panels. those heat panels costs 100 buck each, and as a show of appreciation the owner of these cages is going to throw in the helix control thermostat for free if all 4 cages are bought, oh and they come complete with perches, but no animals :( ha ha

the guy i'm purchasing these cages from is Kris from Wolf & Rhine Herp. the same guy that breeds Aru local animals, and from whom i recently purchased that tiny yellow Aru neo. these cages are only 900 bucks! i was super stoked to work out a deal with Kris who, thus far, has shown himself to be a super nice guy. unfortunately he lives in Tampa Fl. and these cages are too heavy to ship.. so it seems my brother and i are headed for Tampa in my truck. the 13 hour drive (one way) should be atrocious! but its going to be similar to the Rico trip we took in December. since we are driving down in a few weeks he isn't going to ship the neo i just bought, i am going to pick up the little one when i pick the cages up. we plan to drive down to Tampa, spend some time with Kris, check out his operation, take a bunch of pictures, load up some cages collect my animal and head home.. maybe even buy something else while i there! ha ha pretty much just like the SignalHerp trip. should be a good time. these cages are really going to be awesome. its an awesome deal i cant wait to get them set up and fill them with beautiful animals!!!

until next time.

update.. finaly

well good morning all. when last i posted i had 38 page views. today i have 51! woo hoo!! ha ha so there is a few things to talk about. firstly, both of my animals are doing really great. Gorgeous George is healthy and active at night. feeding well and looks as beautiful as ever!! my little one RD12129 is also doing well, eating well and looks great. he has grown a lot too since i got him. i will probably weigh him i June and see how much he has grown. i purchased another animal that has been on breeding loan with Arboreal Enthusiast. i talked to them last of January. no updates since then. shouldn't be too much longer and he should get sent to me. that's an exciting thought. now just yesterday i put 100 dollars down on a High White male Aru type imported animal. he was too beautiful to pass up. only 438 shipped so i threw 100 bucks to hold him till later next week when i could afford him. aside from that i also purchased another neonate. :) this one is an Aru animal, with full pedigree information. I'm very excited about this one. i picked this little one from Kristopher from wrherpetology.com. he breeds strictly Aru animals and emerald tree boas. he has some amazing pairings in the works and will produce some great offspring, of course i will be purchasing 1 from the 2 clutches i am interested in. here are some pictures of the little one i just bought from him.

the above picture is the Dam. she is too beautiful!

this handsome male is Clyde. equally as stunning as his mate.

and this little one is my new addition. I'm very excited about his potential. I'm sure he will look very much like his parents. :)

now, on to some despairing news. a great man in the Herp field and community Rico Walder has come down with an aggressive form of brain cancer. you may remember that name from earlier posts as he was the great host from Chattanooga that my brother and i went to go visit with, and purchase my little one RD12129. that was on Dec. 22nd. later on in February he was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma, and 2 toumers were found. he has had to undergo surgeries and kemo, and is indeed doing better but is not out of the woods yet.  many many people have come to gather to help Rico by trying to rais moneys for his Dr. bills. he needs to raise 150,000 bucks! but since February his loyal friends, family, and fans, as well as devoted Herps in the community have helped to raise over 30,000 bucks! isn't that GREAT!?? another website IHERP.com has set an auction page (found here http://www.iherp.com/Reptiles/Auction/ ) to help raise moneys for Rico. all proceeds go to the Rico Relief fund. there are many things to bid on. please check it out and perhaps make a purchase. it will go to a great cause.

thanks all for today however. we hope Rico gets well soon.
